Thank you to everyone who attended our STEAM Night on Thursday! The Maker Club Race was wonderful and the students really enjoyed the other stations! We just finished up our LAST five-day week of the school year. This week and next week are shortened for a SIP Day and Memorial Day; enjoy the four-day weekend! It is hard to believe this is my second to last Weekly Update for the school year!
In Writing, the students finished up their final Writing pieces for short fiction and their Greenbrier Memory stories. Look for those memories hanging up at the 5th Grade Goodbye Celebration on June 7th! In Math, we began studying geometric relationships and formulas involving circles. In Reading, we continued to use our skills to read about human interactions with ecosystems. In Science, we finished up a few of our experiments involving producers and decomposers in the ecosystem.
This week, we will start with the Illinois Science Assessment on Monday morning. On Tuesday, about 50% of our class will be going on the Safety Patrol Field Trip. Such a wonderful group of volunteers and helpers! We will begin to apply our reading skills to the writing realm as we research human actions in the ecosystem and decide what information we want to share with the world. We will finish up our short Math unit on circles and begin the end of the year culminating activity: Math Hunger Games! In Science, we will put our newly discovered knowledge of consumers, producers, and decomposers to the test and we explore and explain food webs more.
-All Greenbrier Memory stories are DUE Monday morning for students who did not finish on Friday!
-Please turn in your 5th Grade Late Night permission slips and photos as well as your PTA lunch permission slip for the last day of school!
