I hope you took some time to rest and relax with family and friends this week. We are gearing up to finish 2018 strong in fifth grade! Monday is going to be our 60th day of our Best Year Ever and I am very excited for the students to take time to reflect on their year so far.
Classroom Community Updates
Before Thanksgiving Break, we finished up Chapter 3 with a Celebration of Learning and a focus on Collaborative Problem Solving. In the coming weeks, we will continue to focus on fractions by learning how to multiply and divide them. In Writing, we began planning for our final written narratives that will be included in our class book, The Moment. Look out for book order forms going home in Backpack Mail tomorrow! We will continue the drafting process in Writing this week as students apply their skills to their final narratives. We finished up a Social Studies unit on Patriots and Loyalists before break and we will be turning our attention back towards a new Science unit on Matter. In Reading, students worked on comparing texts, determining theme, and identifying the meaning of unknown words. We will continue to develop these skills in the coming week as our Fiction unit winds down.
