What a busy and joyful first week back from Spring Break! Between World of Work and Everybody Counts, the students had a wonderful week at Greenbrier! Thank you to all of our parent volunteers who made World of Work and Everybody Counts possible! If you took any photos during World of Work, please be sure to add them to this Google Drive folder and feel free to save any photos of your child enjoying their day!
In this past week, we finished up Unit 8 in Math and prepared for our Celebration of Learning on Tuesday! In Social Studies, we continued to explore the various strategies used by both sides in the Revolutionary War. As readers, we explored how to use context clues within the lines of poems to understand tricky words and explored poetry fluency by reading and writing poems for two voices. In Writing, students will explore the world of persuasion by continuing to plan and then begin writing their real world persuasive essays.
This week is only four days long, but will be full of plenty of learning! Any student who qualified for Advanced Math or Advanced Language Arts testing will be participating this week and parents should have already received communication from district office employees about dates and times. In Social Studies, we will finish up our unit on the Revolutionary War and take a quiz on Thursday afternoon. In Math, we will take our Unit 8 Celebration of Learning and then move on to Unit 9. In Reading, we will continue to add to our poetry knowledge by exploring connections between poems as well as figurative language within poems. First drafts of our persuasive essays will start to take form by the end of the week as well!
