Thank you to everyone who took the time to make me feel appreciated this past week! The flowers, treats, and cards were so lovely and I feel very lucky to teach at Greenbrier!
We have another very busy week at Greenbrier! On Wednesday, we have our PTA Reptile Assembly! Be sure to check Twitter for photos throughout the week! We are also collecting Baby Photos and Permission Slips for the 5th Grade Late Night activity! Be sure to send those in with your child as soon as possible. This Thursday Night is also STEAM Night from 6:30-8:30! Many 5th grade students have been working very hard on their Maker Mobiles and will have their final race on Thursday night. We will also have 20 other stations with exciting, hands-on STEAM inspired activities. You do not need to RSVP in order to attend; even if you cannot come the whole time, it will certainly be a fun night to check things out before or after practice!
Looking Back
Last week, we had students from the AP Hersey Science classes come in and teach some exciting Science lessons! We made lemons and clementines into batteries! We also had our last Robert Crown session, last Reading MAP test, and a fun visit from Mrs. Silva. In Math, we finished our geometry and graphing unit with a Celebration of Learning. In Science, we dug into our Ecosystems unit by learning more about producers, consumers, and decomposers. In Reading, the students learned about specific vocabulary words and cause and effect structure by learning about deforestation. The students also finished their Fiction Short Stories! So entertaining! Be on the lookout for our ebook soon!
Looking Forward
This week, we will continue to learn about Ecosystems by focusing on consumers and decomposers in detail. In addition to learning about ecosystems, we will be reading nonfiction focusing on human environmental impact throughout the week. We will also focus on sharing some favorite Greenbrier memories in Writing. In Math, we will begin Unit 10 by learning about algebraic concepts to add on to our Hands-On Algebra skills.
