Classroom Community Updates
This week, students worked on their skills in responding to a text using evidence to support their reasoning. In the coming week, students will expand on their skills using text evidence by constructing their own paragraphs to support their reasoning. In Science, students have continued to learn about how the earth’s location in space provides us with days as well as seasons. As readers, students began learning how to discuss literature and demonstrate their ideas using Visible Thinking Routines. Students will continue to prepare for Book Clubs this week by learning about Notice and Note reading strategies and practicing conversation starters for Book Club. Students have also started their Weekly Reading Letters to me, so they should be writing their reading letters once per week. Ask your child what day their weekly letter is due to find out more about the routine. In Math, students have finished their review unit on Place Value in Chapter 1 while doing the Workshop Model for the first time in fifth grade. This Monday, students will take a small test to mark the end of Chapter 1 as we move into Chapter 2 focusing on multiplication and division algorithms.
