I hope you spent some time enjoying this weekend of bonus summer weather! 5th grade is in full swing, so thank you for taking the time to read this update with important information!
Classroom Community Updates
In Math, students have finished the Launch unit and built a foundation of bar modeling skills. We will continue to build on these skills throughout the rest of this week during our small Bar Model unit. In Reading, students have been analyzing themselves as readers, participating in group discussions, and learning how to keep a literature conversation going. We also started to read The Liberation of Gabriel King, which is a book that will cross over between Reading and Writing as we use it to introduce skills and concepts in both areas. In Writing, the students have been working hard on their Personal Narrative skills as they focused in on how to show their writing in focused detail. This week, the students will focus on sensory details and figurative language to support their writing. As scientists, students have been exploring their theories on why the summer days are longer than winter ones, and this week, students will revise their original models! We hope you are checking out all of the exciting times on our classroom Twitter Page!
