We have had quite the eventful two weeks! Last week, we enjoyed a visit from Peter Brown, visited Thomas, and had Bus Evacuation practice! This week, we took the Reading MAP test, attended Robert Crown, enjoyed the Multicultural Fair, and said goodbye to Mrs. Higgins! We hope you have been enjoying all the fun on our classroom Twitter feed!
Amidst all of the exciting events, we still did plenty of learning and growing! We finished Unit 8 in Math and moved on to Unit 9 by focusing on coordinate grids and area. In Reading, we finished up our Poetry unit by focusing on thrifty language, author’s purpose, and responding to reading in our journals. After the Revolutionary War Quiz in Social Studies, we started learning about how our nation was built by studying the Articles of Confederation. In Writing, the students created their first draft of their persuasive essays using ethos, logos, and pathos.
This week, we will have our Math MAP test on Tuesday afternoon. In addition to the MAP test, our Poetry test will be Wednesday morning and the All School Movie will be on Friday morning! In Math, we will continue to explore how to determine area of irregular and non-rectangular shapes. In Writing, we will polish up the rough drafts of our persuasive essays and get ready to publish. In Reading, we will return to nonfiction by studying human impacts on our earth and various ecosystems. In Social Studies, we will explore the three branches of government and how they are shaped by the Constitution.
