May is in full swing and we are enjoying making this year count even in the last few weeks. We hope you received the invitation to the Goodbye Gator Celebration for our 5th graders in Backpack Mail last week! I look forward to seeing you all there to help our 5th graders say goodbye to Greenbrier!
We had a very busy week with visits from the Thomas librarian, Jazz Band, and Robert Crown! In addition, we finished our final Social Studies unit for the year and jumped in to our final science unit on Space. In Math, we finished Unit 9 and moved on to Hands-On Algebra combined with Unit 7! As readers, we began to find answers to our questions about human impact on the earth using our reading skills to find answers. In Writing, we finished up our persuasive unit and moved into our last unit of the year: Creative Writing!
This week, we will have a class Star Party to celebrate positive behavior, then talk with Mrs. Silva about middle school, and finally we will end the week with our final session from Robert Crown. In addition to all of the exciting events, we will also continue to move forward in our creative writing unit as students learn how to create emotions for characters. We will also continue to become Algebra champions as students learn the basics of hands-on algebra! In Reading, students will use their nonfiction skills to find answers to their questions about human impact on the environment. In Science, students will begin to investigate the specific phenomena related to the way Earth travels in space.
- STEAM Night is on Thursday, May 18th! I hope to see you all there!
