Welcome to the last week of 2017 at Greenbrier! We have had a wonderful first half of the year and I am looking forward to helping our team learn and grow in 2018!
Classroom Community Updates
In Science, we enjoyed a STEM challenge with Dr. Lynn, added to our original thinking on our models, and took a quiz on States of Matter. This week, we will shift our focus to changes in States of Matter. In Math, we learned about adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers with and without common denominators. This week, we will finish up Chapter 3 and take our test on Friday! In Reading, we have been practicing and applying our nonfiction skills as a group while reading Freedom Walkers and learning about the Civil Rights movement. We will continue to read Freedom Walkers this week as students deepen their nonfiction skills and select their Book Club choices for Nonfiction. In Writing, the students continued to work on their skills by writing with evidence from the text by selecting the appropriate pieces of evidence based on the goal of their writing. This week, students will continue to expand their writing skills by learning more about the mechanics of using evidence from the text.
- Every Wednesday in December is Warm Winter Wednesday and students are encouraged to dress in a wintery theme. We are collecting new hats and gloves to donate to families in need. Please consider sending some in with your student before Winter Break!
- Mrs. Bingaman’s Blog is always full of great information! Her update includes a list of every theme day for Greenbrier’s Spirit Week!
