This is our last weekly update of the year! The students have started to reflect on what they have learned and how far they have come this year. They are feeling a little sad to leave the gator pond, but mostly excited to move on and become Timberwolves next year! Thank you all for your open communication and support this year. In order for students to have their Best Year Ever it takes a lot of hard work from the adults in their lives! This year could not have been possible without you! I hope to see you all at the Goodbye Gator Celebration for our fifth graders on June 10th at 8:15. If you cannot make it due to a prior commitment, please plan to drop off your children so they can celebrate their last day with their classmates!
Classroom Community Updates
This week, we will be enjoying a lot of fifth grade traditions and do some reflecting on our year as a whole. Students will be enjoying Field Day on Wednesday (rain date on Friday). Be sure students come to school dressed for the weather to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon! We will also be reviewing our 5th grade math standards with the Math Hunger Games all week! Our first tributes enter the arena on Tuesday! Students will be finishing up our Nonfiction Reading unit by constructing an infographic about their chosen research topic. In Writing, students wrote about their favorite Greenbrier memory for our Goodbye Gator Celebration and and now they will be finishing the year writing their own Choose Your Own Adventure stories on Google Forms. We will be emptying out desks and sending home supplies on Friday and students are encouraged to bring in a sturdy bag to bring home all of their materials from the school year. Students will also be trying to save Humpty Dumpty during our Egg Drop engineering project during Science time!
- During these busy final days, I would greatly appreciate it if you took five minutes to fill out my End of Year Parent Survey. Parent feedback is incredibly valuable to me as I continue to grow as an educator. The survey is online, so your answers will be 100% anonymous. The questions are simple, but will give me powerful information to apply to my teaching next year.
- You are cordially invited to the Goodbye Gator Celebration for our fifth graders on June 10th at 8:15. Look for the invitation in Backpack Mail!
