This is my last official Weekly Update! Time flies when you are having fun! As we go through all of the special events associated with wrapping up a wonderful school year, I want to say thank you for all of your support and cooperation throughout the year. I hope to see you all at the Goodbye Gator event at 8:15 on June 9th! Thank you for another Best Year Ever!
I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend with friends and family! The students certainly worked hard last week and earned a break! We finished up our last nonfiction unit with a Celebration of Learning on Friday. In Science, we made our final models for day and night in both summer and winter in the northern hemisphere. In Writing, students finished their first drafts of their fiction short stories. In Math, we worked on order of operations with both positive and negative numbers.
Over the next two weeks, we will wrap up the last few projects and Celebrations of Learning associated with Trimester 3 including a short Science quiz, a short Math quiz, and Short Stories! Once the final projects of Trimester 3 are finished, we will continue our Reading research unit by starting the “Do Something” phase where students decide what to do with their knowledge! We will also finish up our final Genius Hour projects and share them on the final Wednesday of the year. Students will finish writing their Greenbrier memories to be on display during our Goodbye Greenbrier ceremony! We will also start the famous 5th Grade Egg Drop project and start to pack up and send home student supplies as they are not needed. During our last week of Math, we will also be participating in the Math Hunger Games as a grade!
- Field Day is Friday! Be sure to send students prepared for spending a few hours outside!
