May is here and the countdown begins! Our students have less than 30 school days left as Greenbrier Gator students! We hope to fill the last few weeks of school with joy, hard work, and fond memories!
We had so much fun on our All School Movie Field Trip to see Born in China on Friday! We also came to the end of a lot of units this past week. We said goodbye to our poetry unit with a Celebration of Learning and writing about our favorite poems. In Social Studies, we learned about the branches of government and the constitution. In Math, we explored the properties of 3D shapes and formulas for the volume of prisms. In Writing, the students made their final drafts of persuasive essays.
This week, we will have some special events mixed in with our regularly scheduled learning. On Monday, we kick off the week with a visit from the TMS librarian to tell us all about the Summer Reading Program! On Tuesday afternoon, we get the chance to see some Greenbrier alumni play in the TMS Jazz Band, and then on Friday afternoon we will have the Robert Crown Linda and Michael sessions. In Math, we will be taking our Unit 9 Celebration of Learning on Thursday. After our Social Studies quiz, we will be switching back to Science for one last unit on the Earth in Space! In Reading, we will focus on reading nonfiction for research as we link our readings to human impacts on ecosystems. In Writing, we will shift towards writing realistic fiction as we start our last unit of the year!
