Hello 5th Grade Families!
We have finished PARCC Testing and our schedule returns to normal this week! All PARCC makeups will be finished this week as well. Be sure to sign and return the permission slips for World of Work, Robert Crown, and our Thomas Middle School Tour!
In addition to last weeks many PARCC tests, we still found time for lots of learning! We learned about the pros and cons of the British and Continental armies during the Revolutionary War. Students also read poems, empathized with problems identified in the poems, and then engineered solutions to those problems during Reading time. We also continued to learn about fractions of fractions and percents of numbers during Math class. In Writing, we moved forward in considering what makes a strong persuasive argument.
This week, we will have four days to accomplish a lot before Spring Break! We will be having our Book Launch Party on Thursday to celebrate the hard work we did during the narrative unit! Students will also continue to learn about percents of whole numbers and fractions during Math. During Writing, we will shift gears over to writing resumes for World of Work! In Reading, we will focus in on the various uses of language in poetry. In Social Studies, we will explore the various strategies employed in fighting the Revolutionary War.
