It is hard to believe January is almost over! Students have been working so hard in 2020, and we are excited to end January with STEAM Day on Friday. Maker Club students have been working very hard over the past few months on their projects and they will spend Friday morning sharing their projects with 1st and 2nd graders. All 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will spend Friday afternoon participating in an engineering design challenge!
Classroom Community Updates
In Math, we finished up Chapter 8 by focusing on comparing and rounding decimals to the thousandth place. This week starts our with our Chapter 8 Celebration of Learning and then rolls right into Chapter 9 focused on operations with decimals. In Reading, we explored the different sub-genres of nonfiction with a focus on written responses. We will move into our last week of Nonfiction by combining all of our skills and applying them to various texts. In Writing, we have finished up the ideating and brainstorming stage of Fiction and we are moving into the revising and editing portions of our unit. In Social Studies, we learned about Checks and Balances and this week we will take a short quiz focused on the Branches of Government and Checks and Balances.
- Robert Crown Permission Slips went home in Backpack Mail! They are due back on Friday, 1/31.
- The month of January is Workout Wednesday Spirit Days. Encourage your children to wear Jump Rope for Heart gear or their favorite exercise clothes to support Jump Rope for Heart in the month of January.
