January is already behind us! We will start February with plenty of exciting activities!
The students did a wonderful job of demonstrating their learning of figurative language through different projects! I’ll be posting a few examples later this week on Twitter! Our Math unit on Order of Operations and algebraic skills is off to a great start! We have started to refine their writing skills and specifically worked on citing page numbers and giving quotations context before adding evidence from the text. In Science, we have started working on how to slow heat energy transfer with insulators. In Reading, students are tracing different pieces of evidence throughout their chapters in order to practice comprehension skills.
The students will be finishing up this round of Genius Hour with a Sharing Day on Friday. After that, we will be taking a brief hiatus from traditional Genius Hour in order to allow the students the opportunity to do their own Rube Goldberg Machines! In Science, students will be experimenting with insulators to determine which one will do the best job of slowing heat energy transfer. We will also be mixing Hands-On Algebra skills into our Everyday Math unit starting on Wednesday! In Language Arts and Reading, students will be practicing skills related to various genres of fiction, including historical fiction, fables, and more.
-Tomorrow (2/1) we will have Mrs. Silva’s Erin’s Law presentation. Your child will be coming home with a note in Backpack Mail with more information on their specific presentation.
-Friday is Gator Rock! I hope to see you all there!
-Mrs. Bingaman's Friday Packet is so full of important information! There is information about a cancelled Wellness Club session, transitioning to middle school, and Valentine's Day!
