Hello 5th Grade Families!
It is hard to believe there are only a few short weeks of school left! We hope you received the invitation to the Goodbye Gator Celebration for our 5th graders in Backpack Mail and are planning to attend on June 9th! I look forward to seeing you all there to help our 5th graders say goodbye to Greenbrier!
This past week was full of lots of learning and joy! We hope you enjoyed STEAM Night on Thursday! Students began their models for why day and night hours differ between seasons in Science class. In Reading, students continued to learn more about reading nonfiction to discover how and why people impact our environment. In Math, students took an Algebra quiz and moved on to learning about negative numbers. Students have also been working on their creative writing as they create their own realistic fiction stories in Writing.
This week, will be four days full of learning before a four day weekend! Students will continue to think about how the relationship between the sun and the earth impacts our day to day lives. In Math, students will learn how to manipulate negative numbers within algebraic and numerical expressions. In Writing, the students will begin drafting their realistic fiction stories and publish their work! In Reading, the students will finish up their nonfiction knowledge with a Celebration of Learning and then move on to coming up with their own action plans for how to help the environment.
